The Movie: This, quite obviously, is the 2002 follow-up to the hugely popular Men In Black film from 1997. In the sequel, a huge crisis necessitates bringing Tommy Lee Jones' character back to solve a problem that only he can solve. The film basically starts out with following along as Will Smith tries to get Tommy Lee Jones to remember his old life as a member of the Men In Black.

Anyway, I don't want to go on and on about the plot here, so I'll just say in general terms that this is a fun, entertaining movie, with some great one liners. There are also some great (and also not so great) special effects in the film. Anyway, this is one of those "fun for the whole family" type movies that just about anyone can enjoy.

It doesn't have quite the full punch of the first film, but these types of sequels rarely do, as a lot of the impact from these types of films comes from being immersed in a fantastic new world... which by the time we get to the sequel, is a world we've already seen before. But it's still a thoroughly entertaining movie, and I enjoyed it.

The DVD: I actually only got to view disc one of this two-disc set, and of course, I am reviewing the widescreen version (there is a separately packaged "full screen" version as well). The anamorphic transfer is beautiful, with great contrast, beautiful colors, and perfect clarity, while exhibiting just enough film grain to remind you where these images originally came from.

The audio was also fantastic, and as you'd expect from an effects-heavy film such as this, the surround and subwoofer channels get quite a workout. As far as special features go, most of them are on the second disc, and there are a lot of them, including a lot of more specialized behind the scenes featurettes, as well as outtakes, deleted scenes, an alternate ending, a commentary track, etc. etc. etc.

Overall a pretty great presentation of a fun movie!
