The Movie: K-Pax is yet another one of those movies I wanted to see a long time ago, but just didn't get around to until now. Kevin Spacey plays a mysterious character that never quite lets on whether he is just insane, or if he's actually from another planet as he claims. Jeff Bridges plays the psychiatrist assigned to help him get to the root cause of all of his "delusions".

Although there are a number of amusing aspects to this movie, and though the main character is quite interesting, I find this film to be "just OK" overall. I wasn't completely sucked in to the world of the film, but I wasn't completely put off by it either. I just didn't receive the strong emotional impact in the ending that I think I was supposed to get.

The DVD: The anamorphic video transfer on this DVD is quite nice, with tons of great, bold color, a crisp picture, and very little compression artifacting. Your audio options include both DTS and Dolby Digital audio... the DTS audio was pristine and clear, but honestly it didn't ever make me think "Wow, this sounds great!" -- then again, this is a pretty dialog-heavy type film.

Special features include an alternate ending (rather dark and sinister compared to the final version), some other deleted footage, a commentary track, a making-of featurette, as well as a trailer and some still photos taken by Jeff Bridges. Not too bad a set of extras, and a pretty good presentation of the film, so this DVD shouldn't disappoint any fans of the movie.
