The Movie:
This is, I guess, a classic 80's teen movie. One that I hadn't seen until just the other night. And I guess, it was just OK. I mean, it was a nice little movie, in a teeny chick-flick sort of way. It's about a guy who is sort of a misfit who falls in love with an overachieving, prim and proper girl. Of course, her father doesn't really like the idea and tries to keep them apart. But they overcome all obstacles and love prevails in the end.
Woohoo.
This film is probably most known for the famous scene where John Cusack stands outside in front of the girl's house and holds a ghetto blaster blaring Peter Gabriel's "In Your Eyes" up over his head... kinda stalker-ish, don't you think?
Of course as 80's teeny-cheesy as this film may be, it actually comes through with a pretty decent script that really gives some depth to the characters, so it wasn't too bad at all, actually. And it was kind of interesting seeing a movie where John and Joan Cusack play siblings in it. And of course, the guy who played the dad went on to play the dad on Frasier.
OK that's all.
The DVD:
The anamorphic transferon this disc was fairly clean, though I don't think it had all of the contrast it could have had, and the colors seemed somewhat muted... then again, the movie is set in Seattle... so maybe that's just how things look there haha.
Audio was actually pretty clean, with a nice, crisp sound, but beyond that, not a lot to write about, as this isn't exactly a special effects thriller. Special features include some deleted and extended scenes, a commentary track, a behind the scenes featurette, as well as a trailer. A fair portion of these special features were done in anamorphic widescreen, by the way.
