The Movie: I actually only saw Volume 1 about two days before Volume 2 came out in the theaters. I guess to sum up this movie I'd have to say that it's a tribute to the many great action/martial arts films to come out of China and Japan over the last 40 years, with a little bit of spaghetti western flavor tossed into the mix. Quentin Tarantino has put together a movie for movie's sake.

In other words, if you're looking for something "realistic" then this movie is definitely not for you. But if you're looking for some eye popping action mixed in with some pop-culture film fantasy, this could be just the ticket for you. Oh... and violence... lots and lots of violence.

Overall I guess you could say it's a pretty cool package, though where Tarantino's earlier films like Pulp Fiction helped shaped pop culture, Kill Bill is more of a reflection of it, and I doubt it will have the far reaching effects that some of his earlier films did. But check it out anyway!

The DVD: The DVD provided a wonderful transfer of the film onto DVD, with pristine images, and crystal clear sound, but it did seem rather short on the special features side of things, providing you with some trailers, a "making-of" and a music video. But don't worry, there are plenty of rumors already flying around about multiple super-special edition DVD sets coming out in the future, perhaps even with multiple versions of the film itself.
