The Movie: This is yet another movie I rented just because it was about, or at least had some part set in Las Vegas, and man, was this a terrible one. Though it's got some name actors like Kirsten Dunst, James Caan and Luis Guzmán in it, plus tons of nice location shots in Vegas, the overall caliber of this what I believe to be direct-to-video movie is about on par with your average late night Cinemax fare... and most of those movies wouldn't be able to get all those location shots. The performances were terrible but I guess they did the best they could with such flat characters and poor writing.

Basically the movie is about Kirsten Dunst leaving her mother to go find her estranged father (James Caan) who turns out to be a high stakes poker player. Along the way she picks up some kid who she ends up falling in love with, who also happens to be trying to be a poker player. Throw in some Vegas mob clichés, and a lot of gratuitous boobage, and that pretty much sums up the whole thing.

The one tiny point of interest in this movie is perhaps the fact that it fairly prominently features the game of Texas Hold'em... at least a few years before it became as popular as it is today. Overall though, I'm just gonna have to say... don't waste your time with this one.

The DVD: This disc gives you a non-anamorphic, letterboxed video transfer that is not only not particularly sharp, but also grainy and not exactly clean either. Colors weren't quite as bold as they could have been, but I guess overall the video was functional, and I've definitely seen worse. Audio was in 2.0 stereo, not even 2.0 surround, and overall nothing to write home about. As far as special features go, you get a trailer, and trailers for at least one other movie (I didn't stick around to see if there would be more).

Seriously, don't waste your time with this one.
