The Movie:
This is a powerful film that follows the history of a number of Chinese-American women, the sacrifices they've made, and the hardships they've endured, culminating in a real tear-jerker of an ending. Which for any guy reading this review, probably sends up some "chick flick" red flags. And yeah, this is a chick flick, but unlike most chick flicks, this one is actually a good film when you put it all together.
I guess I won't sit here and try to convince all the manly men to go see this even though it is worth it, but yes, it is worth it.
The DVD:
Unfortunately, the quality of the DVD production does not match the quality of the film in this case. The video transfer is murky, the audio uninspiring, and the only special feature to speak of here is a trailer. The end.
