The Movie: I'm not as big of a fan of Deep Space Nine as I am of The Next Generation, and actually, the only reason why I even watch it at all is because there is some crossover between the characters of the two shows. I doubt I will be writing a review of every single season as i did with the TNG sets, as it's pretty much going to be a matter of if you're a fan of the series, you'll like it, and if you're not, you probably won't.

The earlier seasons of DS9 have long been scoffed for being the Star Trek series that boldly went where no one as gone before... and stay there. Since the show takes place on a space station that doesn't move, well, you don't get as much of the exploration aspect of a science fiction TV show... but the static nature of the setting did allow for some really great character interaction and growth in the later seasons.

So yeah. If you liked TNG, you stand a pretty good chance of enjoying DS9, but the later seasons are definitely much, much better than the earlier ones. Seasons of DS9 will be coming out bimonthly just as the TNG ones did.

The DVD: The video quality on these episodes of DS9 is slightly better than the quality on the later seasons of TNG, as is the audio quality. The special features, though they are more numerous than they were on the TNG sets, but not really any more informative or interesting. There are even some "hidden" features that are not really that hidden, and not really very good features either. Oh well. One minor gripe... the TNG discs had chapter marks right after the opening credits on each episode so that you could skip them easily... the 2nd chapter on most of the DS9 episodes seems to start a few minutes after the end of the opening credits.
