The Movie:
If you can't guess by the title, I rented Destination Vegas from Netflix because, well, it's got Vegas in it, and I love Vegas. Well. This movie, as near as I can tell, is a crappy low budget, straight to video release, and it's got all of the qualities that you would expect from such a film, including weak plot, low budget effects, and bad acting.
The entire movie is basically one long chase scene, as a hot young female lawyer discovers that her firm and one of its clients are in the habit of assassinating people that get in their way, and now this firm wants her dead. So she flees from her two would be assassins and heads for Vegas to stop an evil corporate land deal from going down. Along the way she enlists the help of an ex-con. There's guns, there's shooting, and there's crappy car chase scenes. Oh. And really, really bad accents from many characters in this movie.
For most of the movie, this girl's boobs are bouncing around, almost but never quite popping out, and it was rather frustrating to be watching this, but alas, they do end up popping out as she falls in love with the ex-con drifter and has sex with him on the hood of a pickup trick in a junkyard in the middle of the Mojave desert, shortly before her assassins catch up to her again.
Anyway, the movie ends with a climactic dash down Fremont Street in Downtown Las Vegas, and that's that. To this movie's credit, there actually were some pretty beautiful shots of the desert, but yeah, it'll never be anything more than a cheap B movie. I mean, the tagline for this movie is "She's young. She's an attorney. She's packing a 12-gauge shotgun." -- what can you possibly expect?
The DVD:
As near as I can tell, this movie was shot in a full frame 4:3 aspect ratio, which would make sense if it was designed to go straight to video, and that's what you get on this disc. The transfer is actually pretty decent, with nice color, average clarity, and a few hints of minor compression artifacts, but overall it's a pretty decent transfer.
The audio did make some use of Dolby 2.0 Surround, but it was rather poorly edited, but I have a feeling that a lot of the rough sound was the result of poor editing. As far as special features go, there is a "theatrical" trailer, as well as some text based stuff like cast bios. There are also trailers for 3 other B-movies including one for Vice Girls which was so cheesy looking, it's like something you'd see as a parody of a bad movie trailer... but it shows boobs. Like woah. But yeah, that was a highly entertaining trailer full of big breasted women in very poorly made fight scenes. I'd almost recommend renting this DVD just for that trailer, hahaha.
