The Movie:
Zoolander is one continuous, 90 minute long string of cameo appearances of famous people. But it is also quite funny, showing off the comedic talents of Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson and Will Ferrell, among many, many others.
This movie is based on a character created by Ben Stiller for the VH-1 Fashion Awards, and is about the quest to stop the evil fashion industry conspiracy to assassinate the prime minister of Malaysia. Yeah, it doesn't sound that strong, and mainly it's there just to string together the comedic episodes of incredibly ridiculous situations... but it's a fun movie overall, as long as you check your brain at the door.
The DVD:
The anamorphic widescreen video transfer is adequate, but not too great, exhibiting some compression artifacts and graininess, and the audio also was not particularly noteworthy, but when it comes to extras, this DVD really shines.
The background video of the menu designs is definitely one of the coolest things I've ever seen done with video, and it's definitely worth seeing it all... at least, it was to me. Hmmm, so what do you get... well you get some deleted scenes, some extended versions scenes in the movie, some outtakes, the original VH-1 Fashion Awards skits, an audio commentary track with Ben Stiller, promotional spots, an alternate end title sequence, a music video, and a photo gallery... quite a lot of stuff!
If you loved this movie, you'd definitely appreciate this fine lot of special features, even if the video and audio of the main feature aren't the most spectacular things you've ever seen.
