The Movie: I am reviewing the unrated, widescreen version of this DVD. There is also a separate pan and scan version, as well as widescreen and pan and scan versions of the R-rated edition.

Well, what is there to say about the sequel to American Pie? Of course, there was all the hilariously funny toilet humor you'd expect. And well, if you don't like that sort of thing, then there won't be anything for you in this movie. But for me personally, I was laughing most of the way.

What I didn't expect though was that in between the funny sections, the entire movie was like a cheesy sitcom retrospective "remeber when" episode, some of which was hard to stomach, particularly the parts dealing with this high school notion of "love".

But, overall, a funny movie that I'm glad I saw (again). As far as the unrated thing goes... there is supposedly 6 extra minutes of footage but really you get to see a few more seconds of boobs, and really there was nothing particularly memorably different from when I saw the original in the theater.

The DVD: Again, I had the widescreen version. The 1.85:1 anamorphic transfer looked great, with some noticeable dust and dirt popping up from time to time. The recent Universal DVD's have been looking pretty great.

As far as audio goes, there are both DTS and Dolby Digital options, but honestly, I don't known what difference there is to notice since most of the soundtrack is dialog and teenybopper pop-punk. So while not bad at all, there was nothing particularly memorable about the audio either. But this isn't one of those sci-fi blockbuster action movies anyway, so I guess you wouldn't expect too much anyway.

This disc is just packed with special features though. There are deleted scenes, outtakes, trailer with a humorous introduction by Jason Biggs, a making-of documentary, separate behind the scenes footage, commentary, casting footage, a collection of favorite scenes from both American Pie and American Pie 2 as voted by the public, and DVD-ROM content. Wow. That's a lot of stuff. And I'm sure I'm actually missing stuff.
