The Movie: Everyone wants to know what I think of this movie because I run the riceboypage, and this movie revolves around ricey cars. Some car nuts are hung up over the "gross" technical inaccuracies in this movie.

The thing that most car nuts who hate this movie forget is that this isn't a documentary, it's an action movie. The technical inaccuracies are no more serious than the ones you'd find in any action movie. And as an action movie, once I got past the cheesy dialog and the bad acting (which you'd find in just about any action movie) I found The Fast and the Furious thoroughly entertaining. It's a fun movie, what can I say?

The DVD: The anamorphic transfer is damned near perfect... no grain, no noise and no artifacts. Much of the movie takes place at night, and nothing is lost in the dark scenes either. It could have been a tiny bit sharper though. The 5.1 DTS soundtrack is pristine, and if you want to show off your home theater sound system, the entire movie is like one giant surround and subwoofer effect! Universal definitely did a top notch job encoding this movie.

There's quite a bit of bonus material on this disc. You'll find a "making of", director's commentary, deleted scenes (with director's commentary), a multiple camera angle action sequence, a special effects breakdown a scene showing the various elements of the effect, a little featurette showing the editing process used to achieve the PG-13 rating, a "visual effects montage", a storyboard comparison, music videos by Ja Rule, Caddillac Tah and Saliva, TV commercial for the soundtrack, "music highlights" which really just take you to chapters in the movie with music, and finally, the requisite theatrical trailer. There's a lot of stuff here!
