The Movie: Edward Norton is absolutely brilliant in his role as a former skinhead who tries to prevent his younger brother (played by Edward Furlong) from going down the same path. This role is so different from the other wussy geek-boy type roles he has played in his other movies, and really shows his range as an actor.

The film was quite thought provoking, centering around issues of, if you haven't figured out yet, hate, racism and tolerance, as well as insecurity, loyalty, self-discovery, and love.

This movie also featured Beverly D'Angelo, and Avery Brooks (Captain Sisko from Deep Space 9). Overall I found this a beautifully shot, interesting and engaging drama which most anyone should seriously consider seeing.

The DVD: The 1.85:1 video transfer is absolutely stunning -- perfectly bold, bright, clear and crisp without virtually no grain, noise, excessive edge enhancement or compression artifacts. The 5.1 audio was quite good, though mostly focused on the front speakers.

Special features include three deleted scenes, a theatrical trailer. What I really liked though was that unlike most DVD's, these extras were fully produced with the same brilliant anamorphic transfer as the rest of the movie. There is also a fairly detailed text cast/crew bio/filmography section.
